I am enjoying my Florida landscaping, however I have found my flowering plants are not giving me flowers. Why?
In general the most common reason for the lack of flowers on most ornamental plants is the lack of fertilizer. In order to flower, a plant needs to be in a healthy state.
Consider a healthy plant expecting flowers to a woman expecting a baby. In order to reproduce the plant needs to be full of rich nutrients and water to bring the nutrients to the plants roots.
In Florida, we recommend using fertilizers with high levels of minor elements (the “other numbers” on the back side of a bag of fertilizer).
Fertilizers typically have:
- Iron
- Zinc
- Magnesium
- Copper
- Other Trace Elements.
Per each plant and bag of fertilizer, follow the recommend usage to receive the best results. Remember plants are alive and like humans, they like to eat and eat well also.
